I have a Winchester model 1894 saddle ring carbine in 32 Winchester Special. This gun also has the pistol grip stock. According to the post by Rangr44 on August 12, 2010, only 493 carbines had a pistol grip stock.

Actual production of guns reached serial number 752,044. After 1932 serial numbers were chosen at random; many numbers were skipped and the highest serial number recorded is 849,100. George Watrous, a Winchester employee, counted total production at 764,215 in 1944 when he made a count.
This is the info I received from the Cody Firearms Museum via Jessica Bennett: Serial number 135116 applied on December 10th, 1901. Received in warehouse May 14th, 1902. Shipped from warehouse May 15th, 1902. Rifle type: Carbine Caliber: 32 WS. I have some concerns with this rifle: 1.
It has a non-original barrel in 30 WCF. The stock is a pistol grip stock, but the butt is straight like a shotgun type stock. The stock and forearm appear to be original wood.
The sights are not original to the rifle. The saddle ring is missing.
The questions I have are: How many of the 493 carbines were chambered in 32 Winchester Special? Is the receiver chambered to a certain caliber? Is this rifle safe to fire 30 WCF (30-30) cartridges? Where can I find an original barrel in 32 WS? With the low serial number and number produced in this caliber, will it be worth it to restore it? I was told to send the rifle to Turnbull Restoration to get an estimate to restore this rifle. How do I post photos of the rifle?Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Is the RECEIVER (the barrel is 30 WCF) on the Winchester model 1894 caliber specific? Rifle - serial number 107731, 10-5-190132 W.S. Carbine - serial number 22967, 8-27-1902 (by serial number order)32 W.S. Carbine - serial number 142889, 5-10-1902 (by date order)'Thanks Rangr44, I reread your OP and my letter from Cody museum (yes, I paid $70 for this letter) states it was received at the warehouse on 14 May 1902 and shipped out on 15 May 1902. Nothing on the certificate about what type of stock it came with. The certificate states 'No further information for this serial number is available'.About the original 32 WS barrel: you are correct about that because I have spent countless hours trying to find one. I may have to go through Turnbull Restorations to see if they can make one for me.
I plan on keeping this rifle to pass down to my family, and just wanted to make sure it was as close to factory configuration as possible. I will post pictures of the rifle and certificate as soon as my forum account is approved.
